Beautiful weather, a beautiful city, and great hospitality.  That's how Julie and I will remember Austin, TX.  Going into this marathon, I didn't know how it would go for me; I had been sick a couple weeks shortly after Phoenix, had a hard time getting back into running after being sick, and just didn't really feel good while doing my longer runs when I was well enough to do them.  So I was a bit skeptical.  Furthermore, I didn't want to push myself knowing that the next one was only a week or two around the corner.  So I scaled back my expectations, thinking I would be happy with a 3:20 or better (and satisfied with 3:25).  But on a day of absolutely ideal conditions - 40s, sun, no wind - I feel fortunate to have felt good enough to complete the course in a faster-than-expected time, and to feel good at the finish line.
The Springers were great hosts, creating 2 amazing meals that Julie and I were delighted to eat and enjoy their fellowship.  Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at their house the morning of the race, so the pictures for this event will be late in coming (Julie, being her resourceful self bought a disposable camera to at least have some documentation of the event).  So the pictures will eventually be here; please check back in a week or so!
